Terms & Conditions

Welcome to MeetaDev — Africa's tech pulse. By creating an account or accessing the platform, you enter into a legally binding agreement with MeetADev and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform.

Age requirements:

• You must be at least 13 years old
• Users aged 13–17 require parental or guardian consent
• Misrepresenting your age will result in immediate account termination

Account rules:

• All information you provide must be accurate and truthful
• One account per person — no duplicate or fake accounts
• You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure
• Do not share your account with others
• Do not impersonate another person or entity

You are welcome to:

• Create posts, write blog articles, and showcase your projects
• Network, follow, and engage with other developers
• Comment, like, bookmark, and share content respectfully
• Use the platform to learn, grow, and build your developer career

You must not:

• Spam, harass, bully, threaten, or use hate speech against anyone
• Post illegal content or promote illegal activities
• Impersonate another person or organisation
• Share malware, viruses, phishing links, or exploits
• Post adult or NSFW content
• Steal code, plagiarise, or infringe intellectual property
• Doxx or share another user's private information without consent
• Create bot accounts or engage in fake engagement
• Deliberately spread misinformation

You own your content. Posts, blogs, projects, and comments you create remain your intellectual property.

By publishing content on MeetaDev, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the platform — so we can show your posts in feeds, search results, and other users' timelines.

This licence ends when you delete your content. We will not sell your content to third parties, and your work will always be attributed to you.

Content standards:

• Only post original work, or content you have the rights to share
• Credit third-party sources appropriately
• Do not upload copyrighted material you do not own

We reserve the right to remove content that:

• Violates these Terms
• Infringes intellectual property rights
• Contains malware or malicious code
• Is illegal or promotes illegal activities
• Is harmful to our community

Your privacy is important to us. Our full data practices are described in our Privacy Policy.

• We collect only the data necessary to operate the platform
• We encrypt data in transit (TLS) and at rest (bcrypt for passwords)
• We do not sell your data
• You can export or delete your data at any time
• We comply with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019

MeetaDev integrates with third-party services (GitHub, Google, Cloudinary) and may contain links to external websites.

The MeetaDev platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind — express or implied.

We do not guarantee that the platform will be:

• Error-free or uninterrupted
• Free of bugs or security vulnerabilities
• Suitable for any particular purpose

We work hard to deliver a reliable service, but we cannot promise perfection. Use the platform at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MeetaDev is not liable for:

• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Lost profits, revenue, or business opportunities
• Reputational harm or emotional distress
• Data loss (despite our backup practices)
• Security breaches despite our best efforts
• Actions or content posted by other users
• Failures or data practices of third-party services

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability — if applicable law in your location supersedes this clause, those local protections apply to you.

You can terminate your account at any time from your Settings page. After a 30-day grace period your account and personal data will be permanently deleted. Public content may remain unless you manually delete it first. Paid features are non-refundable.

We may suspend or ban your account for:

• Violations of these Terms
• Excessive spam or abuse
• Illegal content or activities
• Harassment of other users
• Fraud or impersonation
• Security threats or hacking attempts
• Use by someone under 13 years old

Enforcement process: Warning → Temporary suspension → Permanent ban, depending on severity.

Before taking formal legal action, you must first attempt to resolve any dispute informally:

• Contact us at legal@meetadev.com describing the issue
• We will attempt to resolve it within 30 days
• This step is required before initiating any legal proceedings

If informal resolution fails, disputes will be handled under Kenyan law in the courts of Nairobi, Kenya. We encourage mediation before litigation.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When material changes occur, we will:

• Send an email to your registered address
• Display an in-app banner announcing the change
• Update the "Effective" date at the top of this page

Continued use of MeetaDev after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Entire agreement. These Terms together with our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and MeetaDev.

Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions remain fully in effect.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
